We offer the following services for
cats:
- Wellness exams: Our doctors will perform
a full physical exam on your pet.
Starting with the head, the doctor will
look at your pet’s eyes, ears and teeth.
She will then listen to your pet’s heart
and lungs, palpate the abdomen and
examine the skin and coat of your pet.
- Kitten Exams: Our doctors will perform a
full physical exam on your kitten (as
described above) and we will give your
kitten a complimentary nail trim. You
will be sent home with a kitten kit that
includes helpful information on how to
care for your kitten. In addition, your
kitten will also receive a free dose of
Advantage Multi.
- Microchipping: A microchip is an
additional identification tool to help
you and your pet find his/her way home
if ever lost. The chip is about the size
of a grain of rice and is implanted
under the skin, between your pet’s
shoulder blades (via injection) and can
be read by a scanner. If your pet were
to ever be lost; shelters, rescue groups
and veterinary hospitals have the
ability to scan your pet for a
microchip. If they are microchipped, the
scanner will display your pet’s
identification number, which allow them
to contact you.
- Diagnostic testing: Diagnostics are made up of a wide
range of testing including; bloodwork,
urinalysis, cytologies, intestinal parasite screening, among a variety of other
testing.Routine bloodwork is recommended for all pets, but is especially important for pets over 5 years of age. Your pet’s blood can give us great insight to ensure vital organs are working properly and there are no abnormalities. The bloodwork includes a complete blood count (CBC) to look for possible infections, anemia, bleeding disorders and other potential dangers. A biochemistry profile checks liver and kidney values, plus vital electrolytes. Some panels also include a heartworm test, thyroid level and/or urinalysis.
These are good screening tools that can identify problems early on - often
making treatment easier and less expensive. This also gives us a baseline
of your pet’s organ function so that we may track patterns of change before
they potentially become a problem. We want to make sure your pet is as
healthy on the inside as they appear to be on the outside to give them the
best possible outcome. The health and safety of your pet is our #1
concern. Remember that six months or one year’s time are drastically
different for people and pets.
- General surgeries: Spay, Neuter,
Cystotomy, Mass/Tumor removal, front paw declaw, and more
- Orthopedic surgeries: Femoral Head
Osteotomy
- Professional dental cleanings:Your veterinarian may recommend that your pet have a dental
cleaning to improve their oral health and freshen their breath. Nothing feels
better than a clean mouth. Imagine not brushing your
ownteeth for several years! Remember, pets have teeth,
too!
Your pet will spend the day here
with us as we perform a pre-surgical examination. Your pet will have an IV
catheter placed and will be placed under anesthesia. They will have their EKG,
blood pressure and anesthesia monitored by a licensed Veterinary
Technician.
Your pets teeth will be cleaned
with an ultrasonic scaler, above and
below the gum line. Teeth
will be polished and given a fluoride treatment. Each individual tooth is
inspected and documented in your pets medical record. Any broken, loose or
unhealthy teeth may be extracted and your pet would be given pain medicine.
Antibiotics may also need to be given. After our caring staff helps your pet
recover from anesthesia, they usually go home the same night.
In addition, all pets who get a professional dental cleaning will be rewarded
with a FREE home dental care item of your choice!
