Dental Procedures
Your veterinarian may
recommend that your pet have a dental cleaning to improve their
oral health and freshen their breath. Nothing feels better than a clean mouth.
Imagine not brushing your own teeth for several years! Remember, pets
have teeth, too! Your pet will spend the day here with us as we
perform a pre-surgical examination. Your pet will have an
IV catheter placed and will be placed under anesthesia. They
will have their EKG, blood pressure and anesthesia monitored by
a licensed Veterinary Technician.
Your pets teeth will be
cleaned with an ultrasonic scaler, above and
below the gum line. Teeth will be polished
and given a fluoride treatment. Each individual tooth is
inspected and documented in your pets medical record. Any
broken, loose or unhealthy teeth may be extracted and your pet
would be given pain medicine. Antibiotics may also need to be
given. After our caring staff helps your pet recover from
anesthesia, they usually go home the same night.

Before Dental After Dental
In addition, all pets
who get a professional dental cleaning will be rewarded with a FREE home dental care item of your choice. (Up to a $19 value)
Choose from:

Does my Pet Need Bloodwork?
Bloodwork is an important screening tool for pets of all ages. Some reasons to test your pet’s bloodwork are:
-
Ensure vital organs are working properly and there are no abnormalities
-
Identify problems early on, often making treatment or management easier, less expensive, and more successful
-
Gives a baseline of your pet’s organ function so that we may track patterns of change before they potentially become a problem
-
Ensure there are no abnormalities before undergoing any surgical or anesthetic procedure
Bloodwork typically consists of one or more of the following:
-
Complete Blood Count (CBC): Analyzes the cellular components in the bloodstream
-
Biochemistry Profile: Provides information about how well the various organs of the body are working and helps detect the presence of certain metabolic diseases
- Thyroid level: Monitors for Hypo- and Hyper-thyroidism
- Urinalysis: Analyzes the chemical components in the urine provides information about how well the kidneys are working, identifies the presence of inflammation or infection, and may detect the presence of underlying metabolic diseases such as diabetes.
Senior Pet Care
As your pet ages, so does his/her health care needs. There are a variety of conditions and diseases that your pet can face. Some of these include: weight and mobility changes, osteoarthritis, kidney, heart and liver diseases, and hormone disorders. It is important to have your senior pet examined by your veterinarian at least once every 6 months, along with bloodwork annually. Keep in mind that 1 year for your senior pet is equivalent to 5-7 years to a human.
Reasons to test your pet's bloodwork are the same as those listed above.
Your veterinarian will devise a health plan for your pet based on his/her specific needs and concerns. We want to make sure your pet is as healthy on the inside as they appear to be on the outside to give them the best possible outcome. The health and safety of your pet is our #1 concern. |
