Dr. Morgan Smith - Medical Director

Dr. Morgan Smith

For the past 15 years, I have dedicated my life to the care and well-being of animals. My journey into medicine began at Ohio University while studying Wildlife Biology and working in the medical school anatomy lab. Blending my love for medical science with a deep desire to help animals, I pursued my dream of becoming a veterinarian and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Before finding my home here at German Village Veterinary Hospital, I spent several rewarding years treating patients in Lancaster and Westerville, Ohio.

As your Medical Director, I am incredibly honored by the trust you place in me to care for your furry family members. My absolute favorite part of my job is building strong, lasting bonds with both my patients and their owners. I firmly believe in a team approach to veterinary care, working right alongside you to decide the absolute best course of action for your pet.

Advanced Care & Leadership

To ensure your pets receive the highest standard of modern medicine, I dedicate a significant amount of time to advanced training, clinical leadership, and mentorship.

Special Interests: Advanced veterinary dentistry and emergency medicine.

Emergency Certification: Certified in basic and advanced life support by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (RECOVER guidelines).

Organized Medicine: Active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA), as well as a graduate of the OVMA Power of Ten leadership group.

Giving Back: I am proud to serve on the Ohio State University Veterinary Practitioner Advisory Board, helping guide the future of veterinary medicine in our community.

Outside the Clinic

When I’m not in the hospital, I love staying active and creative. I am an avid runner, love camping in the great outdoors, and enjoy hands-on projects like sewing and knitting (balanced out by a healthy appreciation for trashy reality TV!). My husband and I share our historic Olde Towne East home with a wonderfully diverse animal family of our own: a Great Pyrenees, two cats, a corn snake, and a tarantula.

German Village Veterinary Hospital is filled with people who are profoundly passionate about treating your pets with kindness, respect, and compassion. Thank you for trusting us with your loved ones. I can't wait to meet you and your pets!
